Why You Should Think Twice Before Signing a HIPAA Authorization

Continuing on the topic of red flags to look out for when dealing with a car insurance company, one tactic they often employ is to say something along the lines of, hey, we want to help you get some treatment to help take care of your injuries. But in order to do that, we need you to sign this HIPAA authorization so that we can move forward with getting you that care. Do not sign that document. The only thing they intend to do with that document is to look into your medical past to see if there is anything they could attribute your current painful symptoms to. The minute they find something that they can attribute your painful symptoms to, the minute they deny your claim. That is a red flag to look out for when dealing with a car insurance company.
