What Is a Letter of Protection in a Personal Injury Case?

Letters of protection. What are they? When do they come up in personal injury cases? Letters of protection are simply agreements by a client that they will, when the case concludes, pay back a medical provider for services that were provided to them. In many instances, people cannot afford to pay for their medical care as it’s happening to them. They have to wait until they get a settlement to be able to pay for that. A letter of protection is simply an agreement, a contract between the client and the medical provider that says once the case is resolved, that medical provider will be paid from the settlement proceeds. Many times the lawyer is also a part of this in the sense that they are the ones who handle the settlement proceeds once the settlement occurs.
And they also are to make sure that the checks get sent to the appropriate medical providers once the case has been resolved.
