Could You Be Liable If Your Babysitter Causes a Car Accident?

Summer is upon us. Kids are out of school. Lots of activities are going on. And I know a lot of folks have babysitters and nannies that they rely upon to not only take care of their kids during the summer, but also make sure that their kids are getting to where they need to go. Summer camps, practices, all of those things. Well, there is a hidden liability there that you may not be aware of. If you have a babysitter that is driving your children to or from practice, and they cause a wreck, you could be held responsible. And the really tragic part of this is, is that if the babysitter has minimum limits insurance coverage, you could be responsible for the damages and injuries that they cause, and your insurance probably is not gonna cover it. That’s a liability that you yourself will be responsible for. The best thing you could do in a situation like that is let your babysitter drive your car. That way, your car insurance will protect you in the unfortunate event that the babysitter causes an injury while taking your kids anywhere your kids need to go.
