What Happens If You’re Hit by a Car as a Pedestrian in Georgia

Over the years, we’ve got quite a few pedestrian accident cases, and this is car versus pedestrian. As you might imagine, the injuries are typically pretty bad when a car hits a pedestrian like that. And obviously the person driving the car, if they are at fault, their insurance company is going to be the one that is liable for what happens. But as in many of our cases, there may not be enough insurance of that driver. Minimum policies, again, here in Georgia are only $25,000. So there can be times where there isn’t enough insurance to cover the injury. But one thing to keep in mind is even if the pedestrian can actually use their car insurance on a case like that, if there isn’t enough insurance, your underinsured motorist coverage, even if you are a pedestrian, you’re not even in your car, it would apply to a situation. So remember, if you ever get hit by a car as a pedestrian, that you might be able to use your own car insurance to cover the interest.
