We represented the family of a man who tragically passed away as a result of the excessive use of force of a Metro Atlanta County Police Officer. The deceased was shot with a Taser while he was on top of a fence. The police department’s Internal Affairs Division investigated the incident and concluded the police officer was justified in using his Taser. Despite this position, we conducted our own investigation in to the matter and discovered evidence the police officer violated the deceased’s Constitutionally Protected Rights by using significantly greater force than was necessary. Upon presenting our client’s case to the county officials, the case settled for $1,450,000.00. This money was awarded to the deceased’s minor daughter who now attends college.
